'Tim Tam' chocolate biscuits - Black forest

Posted by Linda on 30. 2010 0 comments 0 trackback
Anyone who has tried a Tim Tam biscuit would conclude that it is one of the BEST chocolate biscuits in the world! Produced by Arnott's, which is a famous Australian company, they manufacture a large range of chocolates, confectioneries, biscuits & snacks. Tim Tams are perhaps their most popular product, and if you have ever tried them, then you will understand what I mean.
Anyway, this is a new dessert flavor, Black forest!

so from outer appearance, it looks like a original Tim Tam, chocolate biscuits with rich milk choc coating...but after you take the first bite, you will noticed that instead of the usual milk choc cream sandwiched between the biscuits, there was a thick layer of white cream & some gooey raspberry fudge caramel in the center, yum! It does very much remind me of black forest cake!
and the taste? Irresistible!

Kit Kat - Framboise

I bought this KK flavor for my recent second order with NapaJapan, I heard this is one of the most popular Japanese KK flavors & I've read a lot of rave reviews about it in other food blogs, so I was eager to give this a try myself.
Although frankly, there was a slight hesitation at first because of my previous experience with the Raspberry & Passionfruit KK, which I did not like very much...
however, with my first bite, I immediately took a liking to it! There was a good balance of flavor with the chocolate & raspberry cream, which was nice. For me, this flavor is a great improvement from the raspberry & passionfruit KK.
What I also like about it is the packaging, the design on the box is very pretty & attractive (then again, most Japanese confectionery packaging are!), and I like the rougher texture of the box too, it's very different to the usual smooth Japanese KK boxes.
Overall, I intend on getting this flavor again the next time I order Japanese KKs!

Kit Kat - Custard pudding

Posted by Linda on 28. 2010 0 comments 0 trackback
I LOVE custard pudding, I LOVE kit kats, so this was like a dream come true for me when I saw this flavor!
but...frankly, I was rather disappointed, the custard pudding flavor was a bit too subtle for me, that the white choc sort of overpowered it.
But overall, it wasn't a "bad" flavor, but I certainly expected more from it, the custard pudding flavor could've been stronger.

Kit Kat - Ginger Ale

I have to admit, I've never drank ginger ale before so I don't know how it tastes like, and I HATE ginger! That's basically the reason why I never tried the drink! But since I'm such a HUGE fan of Japanese kit kats, I was willing to give this a try:

I was so pleasantly surprised by this flavor! I love it! Absolutely love it!I could taste the ginger and refreshing soda flavor, it wasn't too heavy, which I love!
I gave my mum a try of this yummy flavor KK and she agrees with me & really liked it too...except she didn't quite like the aftertaste of the ginger flavor in her mouth, which I personally didn't mind at all.
And because of this flavor KK, I might just try drinking ginger ale next time!

I will definitely be getting more of this!

Kit Kat mini - Banana'

Posted by Linda on 24. 2010 0 comments 0 trackback
I'm aware that Kit Kat Japan has released 2 kinds of Banana flavors, one is made with milk chocolate & only comes in mini party packs...the other only comes in a chunky size bar and is made with white chocolate.
This is the mini banana KK made with milk choc:
this is an ok flavor, although the artificial banana flavor was very subtle, while the milk choc was very overpowering, so that was a bit disappointing.

Now I'm curious about Kit Kat's other banana flavor bar with white choc...I might try that one next time.

Kit Kat - Maple Syrup

when I was online shopping at NapaJapan, I came across this flavor KK, it sounded yummy so I decided to give it a try:
I was very disappointed with this flavor, I could hardly taste the maple syrup AT ALL, all I could taste was white chocolate...with every bite, I asked myself as I chewed "where's the maple syrup flavor?" I was waiting for that moment when the maple syrup flavor hits me...but it never came, it tasted like I was just eating plain white chocolate KK. Very disappointing.

'Crunky' chocolate - Banana chocolate crispy

Posted by Linda on 22. 2010 0 comments 0 trackback
this is my first time trying out LOTTE's 'Cruncky' chocolate bars, so I didn't know what to expect really.
This is the banana chocolate crispy flavor:
it was delicious, the banana flavor wasn't too strong, nor was it too subtle, but what I love the most about this bar are the crispy and crunchy malt puffs, they helped to add some good texture to the chocolate.

Overall it was a pleasant experience, I will definitely be trying out more Crunky flavors!

Mango mochi

Posted by Linda on 21. 2010 0 comments 0 trackback
My mom bought this at my local Chinese grocery the other day...it's Mango flavored mochi, I forgot what brand it is from...
Picture-015.jpg Picture-016.jpg
the filling inside is mango jelly:
the jelly was thick with beautiful bright orange/yellow color, but I thought it was a bit overly sweet & the manga flavor was a bit too subtle. But overall, it was decent.

Kit Kat - Sakura Matcha

Posted by Linda on 12. 2010 0 comments 0 trackback
I love Japanese Matcha tea, and I love Sakura! I was really delighted to come across this flavor, and also because of the beautiful packaging
It's a very nice flavor, the matcha flavor was not too heavy & not too subtle either, with a very faint hint of sakura flavour. I think it's one of my favorite KK flavors ever, I will definitely be getting more of this!
