Jagariko - Roast potato & butter

After my fond experiences with Jagariko's Salad and Cheese flavors, I was quite excited when I discovered this special Roast potato & butter flavor from the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido, selling at Tokyomart during my last visit to the grocery:

'Jagariko' potato sticks - Cheese

This is my second experience with the 'Jagariko' brand from Calbee, my first try was the Salad flavor. Despite the too overly cooked potato sticks for my palette, I still thoroughly enjoyed my first experience with this particular brand, so I decided to have seconds, this is the cheese flavor:

I remembered from my first experience with the salad flavor, how amazingly crunchy & crispy the potato sticks were (because of the extent of the frying), and I'm pleased to be satisfied again and the seasonings were very accurate. I was even more thrilled when I noticed that there were also REAL cheese bits embedded in each stick, enhancing the overall flavor of cheese even more.
I've become accustomed to Calbee's over-frying of their Jagariko potato stick snacks, if it means I get to enjoy the beautiful crunchiness and crispiness of these potato sticks every time and the pleasantness of the seasonings.
I'm still quite disappointed by the relatively small size of the package and the shortness of these potato sticks...at US$2.99 for a small container of these, I would want more for my money.

My rating (overall):

'Jagariko' potato sticks - Salad

'Jagariko' is the name of this popular potato stick snack brand from Calbee (the most recognized Japanese chips manufacturer)...this was my first encounter with the brand, although I did hear quite a lot about the brand beforehand. Anyway, so I ordered the salad flavor @ NapaJapan for my first Jagariko experience:

I was rather surprised at how over-cooked those potato sticks were, resulting in the sticks being hard and dry...which was a bit of a disappointment for me, as I like my potato sticks to be just like french fries, retaining some of its moist, soft flesh. But these potato sticks were fried so intensely right through. Also, the sticks were much shorter, and the container was much smaller than I had expected.
But all is not lost, because of the intensity of the frying of the potato sticks, they were amazingly crunchy & crispy, and the seasonings were really nice.

My rating (overall):

I would've given it 5 stars, but I took some points off for the potato sticks being too over-cooked for my taste, and with the amount of the sticks being much too less than I had expected.

Although the 'Kit Kat' confection originates in England & is produced worldwide by Nestlé (and Hershey in the US only), most of the KK bars I review about are Japanese flavours from Nestlé Japan.
